West VS East team tourney
on 3/6/2012 3:34:36 PM
Do we have some rules set for this yet.

What if game breaks during the event?

Maybe there isn't enough time to play all the games,
should we just have to qualify on 8 or so games, maybe get
a few bonus points for playing everything.

How is the score tallied, avg score per team on a giving game.
Do we toss out the top 2 and bottom 2 scores to get a better
average, more rounded bell curve kinda thing. I'm guessing
1 hour max on any title that can be played for a very long time.

How many teams do we have?

LOL where's Kenny when you need him!

I don't read or post on internet forums anymore but if I did I would say that if this is a team competition that ranking people on a game and having the team score made up of the rankings is better than dealing with scores. That means someone on your team moving up from 16th to 15th position on a game is worth just as much as someone moving up from 2nd to 1st. Everyone it part of the victory and it's not just a battle of the top ringers on each title.

An extreme example of where score breaks down would be the following zookeeper example where Team A wins the competition due to one player having a big jump while the rest of the team is horrible.

1. Player A1 gets 31M thanks to a big jump.
2. Player B1 gets 4.5M
3. Player B2 gets 4.5M
4. Player B3 gets 4.5M
5. Player B4 gets 4.5M
6. Player B5 gets 4.5M
7. Player B6 gets 4.5M
8. Player B7 gets 4.5M
9. Player B8 gets 4.5M
10. Player C1 gets 2.5M
11. Player C2 gets 2.5M
12. Player C3 gets 2.5M
13. Player C4 gets 2.5M
14. Player C5 gets 2.5M
15. Player C6 gets 2.5M
16. Player C7 gets 2.5M
17. Player C8 gets 2.5M
18. Player A2 gets 1M
19. Player A3 gets 1M
20. Player A4 gets 1M
21. Player A5 gets 1M
22. Player A6 gets 1M
23. Player A7 gets 1M
24. Player A8 gets 1M

ps. - Looking forward to seeing everyone at the competition even if most of you will only be on a screen somewhere :)

Yeah this is what Kenny was saying should happen awhile back. It also makes games like PP and T&F much better because the extreme skill level difference between a few thousand points is reflected better in the standings than straight math would.

You only need to hit 'post reply' one time. If it dont work, upgrade the 486.

It should be noted that the scoring system is secondary to actually having fun playing these great games with good friends. I look forward to comparing my shitty DK scores against any other DK scores from the East Coast outlets in the battle for the basement on that title :)

Saw this on the Retrocade Magazine forums and thought of this tourney a bit.
