Help with VS. SMB

I'm trying to get better at vs SMB, my high is 170k, died on 2-4. Could someone maybe make a video showing the locations of all the 1-up mushrooms and turtle shell throws please? Also, do you have any general tips to play safer? especially on the X-4 castle levels. Thanks guys.

Mishmash of stuff.
I'm sure by now everyone knows about the 1up mushroom on 1-1. I know there's one on 1-2 but it's a bit tough to get.
As far as points go, make sure you always end the level with the timer ending in "6". The fireworks are worth 3,000 points.
Are there not warp zones in VS SMB? You might want to consider using them to familiarize yourself with later levels without having to start all over again each and every time. Then when you're ready to do a massive points run, you can ignore the warps and still know what's coming up.

I didnt know there was a 1-up mushroom on 1-1, I usually go down the pipe and get the coins. haha

Really? You didn't know that? Just past the pipe you go down in 1-1, there's a 1up. You can try and grab the 1up and then backtrack into the pipe, but most folks can't do it. The 1up in 1-2 is just above the row of coins on top just before the pipe you go down. Very tough to get.
