Local gamer and one of our own here at Galloping Ghost Arcade, John “Hruza Da Bruza” Hruza played every game on the arcade floor in a massive 32 and a half hour marathon session.
The session of intense gameplay began on Monday November 9th at 11am, and concluded at approximately 7:30pm on Tuesday evening. John’s goal was to play one credit of gameplay on every game in the arcade. This was a huge undertaking, considering Galloping Ghost Arcade currently has 481 arcade games on its floor, and is awaiting verification from Guinness as the World’s Largest Arcade!
John started with the original Mortal Kombat games, and worked his way slowly through the arcade, playing one credit on each game. The arcade streamed the entire marathon to its twitch.tv stream in hopes to bring awareness to all the great, unique games at the arcade and also to promote its fundraiser to expand and grow the Arcade even more.
Some credits went quickly, especially when playing the shmups (shoot-em up games). He was quoted as saying some of his new favorites, after playing all that the arcade has to offer are ironically two shmups, Cyvern and Dimahoo. Later in the marathon, while trying to play all of the King of Fighters titles, he said it was the interatction, encouragement and support of the people tuning in to watch live on twitch.tv that greatly helped in keeping him going.
The final game of his marathon he played “Bucky O’Hare”, the game John currently holds the World Record in. That particular game lasted over 15 minutes, but was the end of a great display of endurance and willpower.
